No fewer than 57 inmates lost their lives in a bloody prison clash which occurred between gang members in Brazil. Video footage from prison shows some of the inmates playing soccer with the decapitated heads of their rivals whom they killed.

It all began as a fight broke out at the Altamira Regional Recovery Center in the Northern state of Pará at about 7 am on Monday, July 29 2019. Reports from the local media have it that, some gang members from Block A in the prison stormed Block B which was occupied by members of a rival group. They then locked the room up and set the place on fire, leading to the death of many of the prisoners from asphyxiation.
In all, 57 prisoners were reported to be dead with 16 of them beheaded.
In the course of the 5-hour riot, some of the prisoners, about 6 of them, were filmed, playing football with the bloody cut off heads of the rival inmates.
The video footage emerged, a few hours after the riot had been calmed. It took the effort of Military police who were called to the scene to quell the riot as they negotiated with the inmates who had barricaded themselves in a cell block.
This riot is coming exactly 2 months after 55 people were killed in a similar riot which occurred in the northern Amazonas state of Brazil in May. Monday’s riot goes down as the second-largest prison massacre this year.
